Safeguarding

Every child on our platform learns with a tutor we have vetted ourselves, in a session we record, on a platform we control. This page explains exactly what that means.

Complete Tutor Solutions is operated by Complete School Solutions Ltd, a school staffing company. Safeguarding is not an add-on for us — it is the reason the platform is built the way it is. Below is a plain-English account of how we vet tutors, how we monitor them, why every session is recorded and what to do if something worries you.

How we vet tutors

No one teaches on CTS before they have been cleared. Every tutor must complete all of the following before their profile goes live:

  • Enhanced DBS check. Every tutor holds an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check — the level of check required for people working closely with children.
  • Identity and right-to-work verification. We confirm that each tutor is who they say they are and is entitled to work in the UK.
  • Reference checks. We take up references before a tutor is approved.
  • A safeguarding interview. Every tutor is interviewed by our school staffing team — the same team that vets and supplies staff to UK schools — before they are cleared to teach.

Ongoing monitoring

Vetting is not a one-off event. Clearances are re-checked, and we track the expiry of every tutor's DBS clearance. If a tutor's clearance lapses, they are removed from the platform automatically: their profile comes down and any pending sessions are cancelled, with parents refunded in full. A tutor cannot teach again until their clearance is back in place and verified by us.

Every session is recorded

Every session on CTS is recorded, video and audio. We do this for two reasons: so that our safeguarding staff can review a session if a concern is ever raised, and so that we can resolve disputes fairly with an accurate record of what happened.

Recordings are handled strictly:

  • Only our designated safeguarding staff can access recordings. Tutors cannot view them, and neither can other parents.
  • Both the tutor and the student see a clear recording notice before they join every session — no one is recorded without knowing.
  • Parents consent to session recording when they register, before any session can be booked.
  • Recordings are retained for a limited period and then deleted. The exact retention period is [to be confirmed: recording retention period].

You can read more about how recordings are stored and protected in our privacy notice.

Sessions happen on our platform

Tutors and parents do not exchange personal contact details. All messaging goes through us, and every session runs in our own video room in the browser — never on a third-party call arranged privately. Taking contact off the platform is against our terms of service for tutors and parents alike, because it would place a child outside the protections described on this page.

How to raise a concern

If anything about a session, a tutor or the platform worries you — however small it seems — contact our safeguarding team directly at hello@cts-edu.com.

When a concern is raised, we will:

  • acknowledge it and treat it seriously from the outset;
  • review the relevant session recordings and account records, led by our designated safeguarding staff;
  • suspend the tutor's access while we investigate, where appropriate; and
  • refer the matter to the relevant authorities — including the police and local authority children's services — where appropriate. We will always cooperate fully with any official investigation.

For more on how we handle personal data, including children's data and session recordings, see our privacy notice. The rules that tutors and parents agree to are set out in our terms of service.
